About Me
You’re probably here because you want to know about me and why I write this blog. Maybe you’re here because you’re a regular reader but you’re miffed by the new layout? Well, welcome aboard. Welcome indeed.
Who Are You?
I shan’t reveal my name or location. I will merely say that I live in Britain, I am female and I am married.
What do you fill your time with?
I do have a job. It may be part-time, but it’s for an awesome company and I’m rather proud to work there.
I am also studying for a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree with the Open University. What joy, eh? I began it in 2007, and should finish it sometime around 2014.
Beyond my degree I read a bit, I take photographs, and I play games. In fact, I play games quite a lot – it has become a staple of every single day. I’m mostly on Team Fortress 2, but sometimes I venture into the world of the xBox 360.
Who are these people?!
Sometimes you may see references to people in my writings. Some of them have code names, others are just referred to as “Mother”, “Father”, “Brother”, you know that kind of stuff and that’s all really self-explanatory.
Before anyone surmises that I’m married to Bruce Springsteen by my plentiful references to “The Boss”, I am not. That is my Husband, and he is so referred to on here as “The Boss” because I used to work for him. It most definately has nothing to do gender roles in the household.
What do you like and dislike?
My dislikes are probably far more in number than my likes. I don’t like wine, reality TV, Twitter, social networking websites in general, chick-lit, misery-lit, Jane Austen, and William Turdsworth.
My likes include a good book (Oscar Wilde to name one). Good music (Rob Dougan, Mumford and Sons). Comedy of the QI, A Bit of Fry and Laurie and Stella Street ilk. I am not ashamed to admit that I am attempting to watch every episode of Law and Order (including SVU and Criminal Intent) that Hallmark could possibly show. I really like being (and staying) Childfree.

You should get all the Richard Hannay books theyre great full of things like ‘low down dago’ and a (mostly) complete lack of female characters, which is a relief sometimes, hate the way on film/tv adaps to old books women are ‘added’as if a woman cant sympathise with male characters at all,so annoying. The 39 Steps BBC did recently was foul, not only did they add a bizarre (post 1970′s type) woman they mangled the rest of the plot no end! rantt
I’ve read The 39 Steps, but only after I saw the recent BBC adaptation. While reading it I kept waiting for a woman to pop out of the woodwork somewhere, but she never came. I was surprised that the BBC went so far away from the original work and assume it’s some kind of representation thing. I can only imagine if they did an adaptation of We Need To Talk About Kevin, that they’d have to invent another character who, at some point, says the lead female is wrong and that having children is the best thing that could ever happen – just to balance it out!
You’re definitely allowed to rant about that, and I don’t blame you as it did screw things up in comparison to the original. Once I’m done with my current few books I think I’ll look into the Hannay the ones. Thanks for the suggestion
