About me

No, no. It's not about me...it's about YOU. I write this stuff for fun, and largely to provide a source of information about certain games (TF2, The Sims 3) directly from a user point of view. I can answer questions about gaming stuff. Just leave me a comment. Other than that, my main addiction is Law and Order and finally getting round to doing my Bachelor of Laws. And so that you're not disappointed, the social networking links on the left don't work. I don't use those. Read more about me »

They think it’s all over. It is now…

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

And so it has come to an end.  On Monday I sat the U211 exam.  I took it at Colchester Town Hall, in the Moot Hall to be precise, which was, frankly, a little over the top for an exam.  It was a shame that the lights looked like something straight out of the 1970s.  [...]

Open University Tutorials: Don’t be scared…

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

Recently, I have noticed an increase in the amount of hits that I am getting with regard to posts about Open University tutorials.  Largely it’s people asking what they’re going to be like, which is an impossible question to answer, however I feel the need to address that and other things that I have written [...]

U211: An Ending

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

And so, it’s all coming to a close.  A month on Friday and I will be sitting the U211 exam – I’ll worry about that another time. For now I am just revelling in the fact that I’ve read all of the course materials and submitted my final assignment last week.  It was the one [...]

Open University Course A210 – A review

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

It’s been a while since I finished A210 – Approaching Literature.  In fact, I finished it in October of last year and had intended to write this long before now.  However, I now feel able to as I think it has been long enough since I got my result and life is relatively normal.  You [...]

Open University Tutorials: An Etiquette Guide

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

I had another tutorial on Saturday and I decided to go.  I figure I may as well as I’ve paid for this stuff. I spent a lot of my time wondering WTF was going on as a couple of other members of the group were doing/saying things which didn’t need to be done or said.  [...]

Open University students and referencing: an observer’s guide

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

I feel compelled to write this.  It’s not as though it’s the first time that I’ve ever mentioned this issue, oh hell no.  I think you might find that if you read through my older posts on my time with the OU, that you’ll see it’s a running theme.  Referencing.  Yep, one of the most [...]

Sometimes the most difficult thing in the world should be simple

Monday, January 4th, 2010

I have these moments when I think “Yes I can!”. A while back, sometime in the summer of last year this would be, I thought that taking U211 was a great idea.  You know what, I am enjoying it, but it just feels so very heavy.  I have an assignment for it due on 6th [...]

Man that weekend sucked. Life goes on…

Monday, November 9th, 2009

The Mother-in-Law Can you tell just what I might be about to impart?  Yep.  That’s right!  I had to spend the weekend in the presence of my Mother-In-Law.  By Christ did I wish to be airlifted out of there.  It was another of those fireworks parties.  And, just like last year, it was full of [...]

FALL OUT! It’s the weekend!

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

I’ve been reading.  (OMIGOD!!  STILL!!!!)  In fact, I have two books on the go.  One is Tender is the Night as I started that a few months back but never finished it.  I’m still reading The Taking of Pelham, but because their subjects are so disperate it’s easy to read both of them.  I may [...]

It’s Oh So Quiet…

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Isn’t it just? Well, I’m working when I’m at work. When I come home I’m studying. After I study I read a bit of a book (because yes, as I’ve said a few times and I’ll keep on saying, I CAN READ AGAIN NOW!!  OMIGOD!) And after that, I have no real desire to do [...]
